Landscape Architecture on the Forest Edge
This sustainable garden design on the forest edge integrates architecture, topography, and vegetation into a park-like landscape. It creates clear spatial structures, precisely placed materials, and a layered planting concept that forms an outdoor space that continuously transforms throughout the seasons while remaining calm, timeless, and enduring.
Garden Architecture and Sustainable Garden Design
In a rural forest-edge setting, a garden was created that unites garden architecture and landscape design into a cohesive, sustainable landscape. The gently sloping site with its valuable tree population forms the foundation for a design concept that combines generosity, connection to nature, and design precision.
Outdoor Design with Terraces and Natural Stone Pool
The outdoor space is conceived as a direct extension of the architecture. Generous terraces, wooden decks, and covered seating areas create fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. At the same time, a central bathing garden with an overflow pool made of natural stone forms the heart of the ensemble. Water functions as both a design and atmospheric element, further complemented by an outdoor shower and a clearly designed natural stone fountain.
Planting Concept with Perennials, Grasses, and Woody Plants
The planting design follows the principle of perennial planting. Perennials, grasses, and woody plants are combined in a way that allows them to complement, densify, and transform across the seasons. This creates varying heights, textures, and flowering periods that produce a dynamic yet harmonious landscape image. Existing trees were deliberately preserved and partially repositioned to strengthen the park-like character and intensify the connection to the adjacent forest.
Kitchen Garden and Ecological Landscape Architecture
Complementing the design, a kitchen garden with berries, vegetables, herbs, and cut flowers integrates sustainability with everyday usability. Subtle landform modeling and generous natural stone block steps connect new and existing elements into a continuous landscape.
Sustainable Garden Design with Year-Round Quality
Overall, the result is a garden that unites natural garden design, design clarity, and ecological responsibility. The landscape promotes biodiversity, strengthens the relationship to its surroundings, and offers a rich spatial and atmospheric quality throughout the year. Ultimately, the project demonstrates how landscape architecture and nature can merge into a harmonious whole.
